Ciò promuove gli stili di vita sani e riduce le disuguaglianze tra gli individui, creando un risvolto sociale molto positivo.
Olimpiadi e giochi olimpici
Il CONI è l’organizzazione responsabile della preparazione e della partecipazione degli atleti alle Olimpiadi estive ed invernali.
Questo compito è di fondamentale importanza, in quanto rappresenta la massima espressione dell’attività sportiva internazionale e la competizione agonistica più prestigiosa al mondo.
Inoltre, il CONI collabora anche nella preparazione e selezione degli atleti che partecipano ai Giochi della Gioventù (Youth Olympic Games) e ai giochi paraolimpici.
In queste competizioni, i partecipanti rappresentano l’Italia ai massimi livelli del mondo sportivo.

Una delle principali attività del CONI è l’organizzazione di eventi sportivi nazionali ed internazionali.
Il Comitato Italiano Olimpico collabora con le varie federazioni sportive per organizzare diverse manifestazioni, come ad esempio i Campionati del Mondo, Europei, e altre competizioni di alto livello.
